78violet- Vinyl cover development.

I started with an initial idea for the front and back which focussed on the pattern visual as the way to attract the audience primarily to the band name and logo. For the back I knew that a blank area would need to be left to display the track listing as the pattern was too detailed and would reduce legibility too much. To work out this placement I used a digital experiment but then had to wait til I had scanned a screen print in to develop the final visual.

I changed the block colour on the back to the darker violet colour as this had a clearer link with the bands name but visually worked better as it blended better with the screen print and created greater contrast with the type. In a recent crit and tutorial it was suggested that I worked on the font used, something that would compliment the flowers and style of music instead of looking too digitally. I took this feedback on board and looked at using a script font for the track listing. Overall this looked a lot better as it was more balanced and by including a larger border it showed off more of the pattern and created the better visual balance between back and front.
