Bear (collab/comp)- Letter C development.

From the letter net which I had developed digitally I knew I needed to test to make sure this worked before going ahead and cutting this out from the box design. Immediately after only a few folds and slight construction could I see that some areas needed changing where I had got confused with the dimensions and essentially flipped the sides when they didn't need to be.

I quickly sorted these out tested again and everything was fine. I realised that with the shape being how it was it was impossible to construct all the sides, but this is something which could be hidden when constructing and photographing for the submission. By leaving some gaps this would also allow the audience to construct and glue the edges easier as they would be able to get their hands inside to hold and stick it down. The shape itself ended up quite complicated but feel that this would be a craft project which would appeal to the older children they target but also with the help of an adult this could be achievable. Similar to the brief suggested I didn't want to create something too simple that would suggest they aren't smart enough and talk down to them. Allowing the need for the parents to be included in order for it to work was essential too for me in the design as this would create interaction and conversation whilst crafting together.

I made sure to add details that would instruct the audience of how to construct and how to do so. Including a safety reminded which is needed for the audience age being targeted. This was then printed, cut and constructed into the final product ready to photograph. Something which I managed to do in good lighting conditions whilst photographing my yearbook submission projects. I was pleased with the amount of illustration detail this size gave but also how easy it is for the child to engage with.
