80s channel- Final thoughts and pattern ideas.

Some recent peer feedback suggested that the designs which I was working on for the website maybe too corporate to express the post modernist approach seen in 1980s design.
Because of this I went back and looked at the approach of April Greiman who was an influential digital design from that decade to see if I could be influenced in some way.

The main influences in her designs were use of bright colours, geometric shapes and random patterns. As I had already decided on a suitable colour scheme for my solutions I took influence from the idea of using patterns some how. I experimented with paint and texture to create suitable patterns that could work within the background of the web visuals. I found that this did not work out as planned and distracted too much away from the information and where the videos would be playing. This is not suitable for the context and audience of the 21st century as their needs are to be able to watch the shows available with little visual distraction. Because of this I have scrapped this idea and just stuck to using bright colours to represent the aesthetic of the decade. If I had more time to develop this idea it could have worked.
